Based on recent patterns, the best chance of witnessing the Great Migration is in the North Serengeti region between July and October. Therefore, we highly recommend scheduling your tour within these months to maximize your chances of seeing this extraordinary natural event.

TOUR ITINERARY

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Intl Airport, you’ll be greeted by a senior safari guide and drive you to the hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.

Arusha is a city in northern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region, with a population of 416,442 plus 323,198 in the surrounding Arusha District Located below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, Arusha has a temperate climate. The city is close to the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Arusha National Park on Mount Meru.

You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for game drives around 9:00 AM with packed lunch or you can depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and relax for a bit and depart to Central Serengeti with packed lunch. The four hour drive to the centre will offer mild enroute game.The drive south from the Mara river valley takes you through hill country, the Lobo area, woodlands and then back into Seronera terrain.The central portion of the Serengeti – known as Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengetis’ species. As you make your way into the Seronera region, you will begin to notice the hilly and broken terrain altering into plain grasslands. In Seronera one must really look out for the many lion prides that thrive in this region.The interactions and survival of these lion prides provide an excellent game viewing experience all year round. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

You have two options for starting your day: you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast and depart for game drives around 9:00 AM with a packed lunch, or opt for an early 6:00 AM game drive. If you choose the early start, you’ll return to your accommodation for breakfast before continuing your journey to the North Serengeti, again with a packed lunch in hand.

Today, you’ll explore the central Serengeti National Park before heading north. As you drive towards the Kogatende region, you’ll pass through an area teeming with resident wildlife, offering exciting opportunities for sightings along the way. As you approach the northern part of the Serengeti, the landscape will begin to change, transitioning from the familiar flat plains to more hilly and broken terrain. This region is home to a wide variety of resident game, including zebras, topi, gazelles, buffaloes, leopards, and lions.

During your full-day journey, a picnic lunch will be served in the wild, surrounded by the breathtaking Serengeti landscape. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll have the opportunity to spend a few hours by the Mara River, where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of this iconic spot.

As the day comes to an end, you’ll return to your accommodation for a hearty dinner and a restful night, reflecting on the day’s thrilling wildlife encounters.

The 4-hour drive to the heart of the Serengeti offers exciting en-route game viewing. As you travel south from the Mara River Valley, the terrain changes, taking you through hill country, the Lobo area, woodlands, and finally back into the iconic Seronera landscape. The Seronera area, located in the central portion of the Serengeti, is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. Here, the Seronera River provides a vital water source, attracting an impressive variety of wildlife, including many of the Serengeti’s iconic species.

As you move further into Seronera, the terrain gradually shifts from hilly, broken landscapes to expansive grasslands. This area is known for its thriving lion prides, and you’ll want to keep a keen eye out for them, as their interactions and survival strategies make for exceptional game viewing year-round. A picnic lunch will be served during your day-long journey.

As the day draws to a close, you’ll head back to your accommodation for a hearty dinner and a restful night, ready to reflect on the unforgettable wildlife experiences of the day.

After a delicious breakfast, you’ll head out for a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, soaking in the breathtaking sights of the wildlife. Later, you’ll depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying a scenic drive with a picnic lunch along the way.

Ngorongoro Crater, the largest collapsed volcanic caldera in the world, is a natural wonder spanning 14 kilometers of isolated beauty. Surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes, the crater floor is home to a diverse array of wildlife, with more than 30,000 animals residing in this unique ecosystem. Dotted with numerous watering holes, the crater offers unparalleled opportunities for wildlife viewing in one of Africa’s most remarkable landscapes.

As the day concludes, you’ll return to your accommodation for a hearty dinner and a restful night, reflecting on the incredible experiences of the day

After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Wagakuria area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in this area of the park, with prides of lion up to 30 strong, however, from August to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later. Please take note –Finding a crossing is very difficult and is sometimes a matter of luck. A herd can be seen next to river and only decide to cross or not cross until a couple of days later. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.
